Ever wondered what the D in DC-130, or C in C-5 stands for? I did! Inspired by the Mission Design Series, this hand-illustrated poster artfully explores the world of aircraft designations. Discover what the letters represent - from A for Attack to B for Bomber and beyond - and how they reveal the unique purpose of each incredible flying machine.

This print is perfect for aviation and military aircraft enthusiasts, aviation professionals, and kids with a passion for planes.

After finding inspiration at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum here in Hawaii, I spent several weeks researching the 1962 US Tri-service aircraft designation system. Weird fact about me is that I love learning about systems and process improvements. The history surrounding Mission Design Series is fascinating! This poster, with its ABC-style format and hand-drawn illustrations, captures the essence of these designations. I even designed the font! I'm thrilled with how it turned out and hope you love it too.
